Local Transportation
The nearest airport is Olbia (http://www.geasar.it/), from where you can use public transportation or rent a car.
By public transportation the easiest option to reach La Maddalena is probably to take a bus of Gruppo Turmotravel, from Olbia Airport (airport bus parking) to “Palau porto”. There are departures every day at 10:40, 12:00, 15:00, 17:00, 19:15 and 21:45. See also here (in Italian).
A more complicated option is to reach Olbia ARST station from the airport (a few kilometers by taxi, or using bus number 514), and from there take bus number 601 to Palau.

Location
La Maddalena is the name of the principal island of an archipelago off the north-eastern tip of Sardinia. The archipelago consists of over sixty islands, islets and rocks. La Maddalena archipelago is a famous holiday destination. The most famous attractions are the beautiful unspoiled beaches, the blue seas and the final home of Italian hero Giuseppe Garibaldi, on the island of Caprera.
