AInCP: clinical validation of Artificial INtelligence for providing a personalized motor clinical profile assessment and rehabilitation of upper limb in children with unilateral Cerebral Palsy

EU Project - HORIZON-HLTH-2021-DISEASE-04 – GA101057309

Principal Investigators (project coordinated by UNIPI): Giuseppina Sgandurra and Giuseppe Prencipe

Description

The overarching objective of AINCP proposal is to provide evidence-based clinical decision support tools for the personalized and theranostic functional diagnosis, upper limb (UpL) assessment and home-based intervention in children with Unilateral Cerebral Palsy (UCP), by developing, testing and validating Artificial Intelligence (AI) cost- effective strategies.

The AINCP approach will i) establish the clinical diagnosis and provide an accurate prognosis for treatment response of individual UCP profiles by employing a multimodal approach including clinical phenotyping, advanced brain imaging and real-life monitoring of UpL functioning, and ii) provide specific personalized home-based treatment, by exploiting advanced Information and Communication (ICT) and AI technologies. Specifically, we will develop this new clinical decision-support system by addressing the following specific five SMART Objectives (SOs):

  • SO1– diagnostic Decision Support Tool (dDST)
  • SO2 – rehabilitative Decision Support Tool (rDST) and Tele-Rehabilitation AINCP system
  • SO3 – Clinical validation of AINCP models
  • SO4 – AINCP as a new theranostic health service - theranostic Decision Support Tool (tDST)
  • SO5 – AINCP as a new tool for patients, carers and health system
